This is the story of a "good little boy”, of his respectable middle-class background in Australia, and of his rather surprising adventures there, in England, France and Ireland. Schoolboy, farm-hand, university student, life model, gigolo, porn stud, teacher, monk, husband.....he tries much and fails often in his struggle to understand himself and the way the world works.

 

Only in middle-age does he realise that he is and always was homosexual and that many of his problems in life had arisen from his inability to conform to the expectations of his middle-class background. Once freed of this 'baggage' he settles down in his twilight years and in this 'memoir' tries to clarify for the benefit of younger generations just what the "facts of life" really are.
